We aim to provide the highest standard of facilities in an ever-changing commercial, academic and regulatory environment. We have freshwater sites in Central Scotland, tropical and temperate freshwater recirculation systems in Stirling and marine facilities in the West of Scotland.
Our research facilities are licenced and inspected by the UK Home Office. We undertake regulatory studies in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Our production sites comply with the Code of Good Practice for Scottish Finfish Aquaculture (CoGP), and our freshwater salmonid sites participate in the RSPCA Freedom Food, Label Rouge and GLOBALGAP certification schemes. All sites are licenced and inspected by regulatory authorities including the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Marine Scotland Fish Health Inspectorate.
We offer a long-established and successful contract research service that supports the development and testing of a wide range of products for use in aquaculture and fisheries, including parasiticides, antibiotics, vaccines, feeds and feed additives.
The Institute provides analytical laboratories in all the key priority research areas including:
These laboratories provide facilities to conduct pioneering fundamental research and commercially relevant research in partnership with leading aquaculture companies.
